Standard drinks (AU) = Volume (ml) × ABV% ÷ 100 × 0.789 ÷ 10 · BAC = (grams ÷ (weight × r × 10)) − (0.015 × hours)Frequently Asked Questions
What is the drink driving limit in Australia?
For full licence holders in all Australian states and territories, the limit is 0.05% BAC. Learner, P1, and P2 drivers must have a 0.00% BAC. Professional drivers (trucks, buses, taxis, ride-share) are also subject to a 0.00% limit.
What is a standard drink in Australia?
In Australia, one standard drink contains 10 grams of pure alcohol. This is equivalent to a 375ml can of mid-strength beer (3.5% ABV), a 100ml glass of wine (13% ABV), or a 30ml shot of spirits (40% ABV). Note that many pub serves are larger than one standard drink.
Can you accurately calculate BAC?
No BAC calculator provides a medically accurate result. The Widmark formula used here is a well-established estimate, but actual BAC is influenced by food consumption, individual metabolism, medications, hydration, liver function, and other factors. This tool is educational only — never make driving decisions based on a BAC calculation.
