Finding cost per 100g: A 15kg bag at $120 = $0.80 per 100g. A 400g tin at $3.50 = $0.875 per 100g.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I feed my dog per day?

A general rule for dry kibble is 18–25g per kg of body weight per day, but this varies by brand, age, and activity level. Always follow the feeding guide on the packaging and adjust based on body condition.

Is raw feeding cheaper or more expensive?

Raw (BARF) feeding can cost $3–8/day for a medium dog, similar to premium kibble. The cost varies widely based on whether you buy minces, whole carcasses, or pre-made raw meals.

What other costs should I budget for?

Vet bills ($500–2,000/year), pet insurance ($50–200/month), grooming, flea/tick/worming treatments, and toys. Food is typically 30–50% of total annual pet costs.
